about

From a musician of 20 years to front end development – not your typical career path, right? But, after developing tinnitus, I needed a profession where my tenacious, curious, problem-solving qualities could be put to best use. And coding is perfect.

I find development immensely satisfying. There’s beauty in functionality, and I love the challenge of writing ever-cleaner code.

GSAP / Date-fns

For this project I used GSAP to bring a stickman with his bag of tricks to life. It threw up a range of interesting challenges, from cross browser compatibility issues to the organisation of complex animation and SVG.

Netflix Slider Clone

Sass / TMDB Api / React / GSAP

For this project I pulled data From TMDB Api. Foreseeing a potential issue, I created a cache to prevent additional fetches should a given item appear in more than one list. To handle complexity, I switched from vanilla JS to GSAP for the animations. The result: a slider whose look and feel conform nicely to that of Netflix’s slider. (view on desktop)

Facebook UI Clone

Sass / React / Styled Components

This project was an exercise in the reactive way of doing things, using React Hooks, Styled Components and React Router, resulting in home and profile pages featuring active navigation, modals and animated emojis, as employed on facebook's own site.
